In the Footsteps of the Kray Twins

The Kray twins are indelibly associated with London’s history. Born in East London, Reggie and Ronnie Kray established their criminal gang in postwar London. By the end of the 1950s they had been involved in armed robbery, arson and protection rackets involving nightclubs. Through their association with the nightclub world they became celebrities in the 1960s, but despite the difficulty of finding people willing to testify against them because of fears of violence, their crimes caught up with them later in the decade when they were arrested and convicted of murder in 1969, both sentenced to life imprisonment. The book features photographs of places in present-day London associated with the Krays as well as historic pictures and other documents. This will be the perfect companion for anyone wanting to explore the legacy of swinging London in the 1960s and those want to find out more about the dark background to this world led by the Kray twins.
